  • Overview

     

    The MCI Technical R&D Brewer is accountable for the assessment, development and preparation of the brewing capability of partners in new markets, as well as of new partners in existing markets and of existing partners for new core brand qualification. The role will have oversight and accountability for technical due dilligence and auditing of new potential partners and their brewery sites, with a particular focus on the LATAM Region. The role is responsible for Project Management of the brewing technical qualification of our core brands at international partner sites, from material sourcing and qualification, to commercial production and handover to Technical Compliance. The Technical R&D Brewer is also responsible for executing projects focused on development of new brewing technologies, new products, processes and materials in order to drive cost savings, and support our topline growth ambition. Working closely with Marketing, Global R&D, Procurement, Compliance and partner/owned sites to deliver results on assigned projects.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Delivers Results: As Project Manager, leads all actions required for the partner capability assessement and development, which includes: from initial brewery site questionnaire review and audits, capital equipment needs assessment and cost estimates, supplier qualification and material development through trial brewing and packaging to first commercial production. At all times estimated timelines are communicated and key stakeholders are kept informed of progress and risks, so that commercial launch can be executed successfully and AOP commitments met.

     

    • Innovation Mindset: The Technical R&D Brewer partners with the Global R&D team on disruptive growth initiatives and integrates experience and knowledge with curiosity and inventor's creativity to "test and learn" new ideas and concepts that deliver business results

     

    • Leadership Capability: For key brewing and packaging material sourcing decisions, qualification and development support, holds accountable a team of functional experts consisting of representatives from R&D, Supply Chain and Procurement through influence leadership. This role is accountable for delivery of projects, working through resources of the partner or suppliers to execute tight project timelines and reach milestones.

     

    • Leadership Capability: Effectively communicates with Legal and Commercial team members as Supply Chain Lead to provide input to Trial Brewing and Licensed Agreements. Applies technical expertise and business acumen to conduct risk/benefit and ROI analysis for alternative SC and technology solutions; provides recommendations on commercial decisions in line with the business imperatives of new/developing markets.

     

    • Critical Thinking: Develop budgetary and capital plans for License and Copacker sites in order to support long range planning goals, which are aligned to MCI growth strategy. For new Owned and Partner Greenfield brewery sites, provides input on key Core Brand equipment design requirements during front end capital engineering activities. Assists in equipment purchasing and qualifying documents, system testing, installation and startup support, and coordinating startup activities with partners, and/or other disciplines.

     

    Qualifications

     

    Education Requirements:

    • BS - Engineering or equivalent; Brewing qualification (e.g. Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD) diploma level or similar from an accredited Brewing Science Faculty
    • Preferred:  Masters in Business Administration

     

    Skills and Relevant Work Experience:

     

    • 10+ years engineering, brewing and packaging experience in the brewing industry
    • Experienced with installation, commissioning, start-up of brewery equipment
    • Demonstrated ability in brewing development and trials
    • Ability to travel internationally 50%+
    • Must possess awareness of cultural norms & excellent communication skills
    • Leadership capability and stretch
    • Strong ability to manage projects including expanding capability to new partners and breweries across multiple countries
    • Self starter, enthusiastic and motivated - determination to engage with the business and make a positive difference. Capable of working in a multifunctonal team, on own initiative and with cross-functional stakeholders

    Preferred Relevent Skills and Experience:

    • Multilingual - Spanish speaking.
    • Experience of working in a fast paced FMCG environment, ideally within the areas of product, packaging or capital engineering.
    • The ability to multi-task/remain calm under pressure, and an ability to influence others.
    • Demonstrable commerical understanding.
